The first phase of the NHS Covid-19 vaccination programme has started. When it is the right time people will receive an invitation to come forward. For most people this will be a letter, either from their GP or the national NHS. This letter will include all the information you will need to book appointments, including your NHS number.

Please do not contact the NHS to get an appointment until you get this letter.

Nurse Practitioners

An Advanced Nurse Practitioner is a nurse who has undertaken further training and acquired the expert knowledge base, complex decision-making skills and clinical competencies for expanded practice to cover physical examination, diagnosis and treatment.

They are able to prescribe most medication and they work together with and under the mentorship of a GP Partner

Practice nurses can help with health issues such as family planning, healthy living advice, blood pressure checks and dressings. The practice nurses run clinics for long-term health conditions such as asthma or diabetes, minor ailment clinics and carry out cervical smears.

Healthcare Assistants

Healthcare assistants support practice nurses with their daily work and carry out tasks such as taking blood, blood pressure measurement and new patient checks.
